Here at Wikipedia, we’re celebrating a huge milestone: Wikipedia is 20 years old! We’re humbly asking you to show your support so that we can look forward to another twenty years of giving hundreds of millions of people access to the sum of all knowledge for free.

If everyone who reads and appreciates Wikipedia made a small donation each year—just the price of a cup of coffee—we’d have all we need to keep Wikipedia thriving and growing. But 98% of our readers never give back to the movement.

When we made Wikipedia a non-profit, some people said we’d regret it. But if Wikipedia were to become commercial, we’d have to sell ads or users’ data to stay online—and that would betray our mission. The heart and soul of Wikipedia is our community of volunteers who donate their time to bring you unlimited access to free, reliable, and neutral information.

In honor of Wikipedia’s 20th birthday, I’m asking you to support our worldwide community of volunteers with a donation.
