Endowment gift
One important way you can help Wikipedia prosper in the long term is by including the Wikimedia Endowment in your will or making a donation and joining us in ensuring the future of free and open knowledge. The Wikimedia Endowment provides dedicated funding to realize the power and promise of Wikipedia and its sister projects — ensuring access to knowledge for everyone, everywhere. For more information or to make a gift, email us at endowment@wikimedia.org.
Legacy gift
One way to support the future of free knowledge is through a legacy gift. A Legacy Gift involves providing a future gift to the Wikimedia Endowment through your financial or estate plans. The gift does not cost you anything right now, but will be a future gift to the Wikimedia Endowment to help us preserve, build and ensure the future of free knowledge for future generations. The gift from your estate is exempt from U.S. federal estate taxes and ensures that your entire gift will support Wikipedia and its sister sites.
Here is sample language that you can use in your will to make a Legacy Gift to the Wikimedia Foundation:
I give, devise, and bequeath [the sum of _____ USD (or other currency) OR _____ percent of the rest and residue of my estate] to the Wikimedia Endowment, ℅ the Wikimedia Foundation (tax identification number 20-0049703), a charitable corporation organized under the laws of the State of Florida, United States, currently located at 1 Montgomery Street, Suite 1600, San Francisco, California, United States, to be used for its general charitable purposes at its discretion.
